Right from the start, it was important for Kloth & Köhnken that a sustainable agricultural system was established and that organic farming was adopted in accordance with governing regulations.
In order to do so, some advice about ecologically sustainable agricultural practices was needed, along with the provision of education for farmers about these production methods, in order to ensure optimal management and quality control.
Setting up this process required further financial and social commitment, as did establishing a system to safeguard the continued prosperity of these new businesses. Given that Chinese farms can sometimes be problematic in their commitment to adhering to sustainable agricultural standards, Kloth & Köhnken launched their own development project in China in 2007.
